TWRC Wildlife CenterSince 1979 TWRC Wildlife Center has been committed to providing quality emergency care and rehabilitation for injured, ill and orphaned wildlife of the Greater Houston area brought to us by the public. Through education, and engaging the public in wildlife-care programs, TWRC is making a difference for urban wildlife threatened by loss of habitat.
This campaign expires November 1, 2019
We have launched a new Animal Care Program. We are combining our three programs into one, giving our volunteers the opportunity to work with all of our wildlife that we rehab onsite. Following is a bit about each of the animals you will be able to help care for while volunteering at TWRC Wildlife Center.
Working with the opossums in our Animal Care Program gives you the opportunity to work with and learn more about how they are good for our environment. We get opossums in from around the beginning of March until the middle of October.
Have you always wondered what it would be like to feed and hold a squirrel? This program gives our volunteers an opportunity to help us take care of our baby and infant bushy tailed friends so they can get back out there and have a happy and fulfilling life. Squirrels have two seasons where we see the babies coming into our center; spring and fall.
Every spring and summer we receive hundreds of birds that need rehabbing at our center. We offer specialized care in overseeing their progress. Once they graduate from our program they are placed with a home rehabilitator.
